Who I Am

I'm Alex Martinez, a technology consultant who moved to Barcelona from London in 2021. Like many expats, I arrived with assumptions about how things work in Spain—and quickly learned that internet service wasn't as straightforward as I expected.

My background is in IT infrastructure and network design, which gave me the technical knowledge to test and evaluate services properly. But more importantly, I'm someone who's actually lived through the process of choosing, switching, and troubleshooting internet service in Spain.

Why I Started This Site

After my third provider switch, I realized how much I'd learned that I wished someone had told me upfront. The promotional materials from providers are polished, but they don't tell you about evening slowdowns, hidden installation costs, or what customer service is actually like when you need help.

I'm not affiliated with any provider. I don't receive commissions, sponsorships, or free services. Every review is based on paying full price and experiencing the service as a regular customer would.

This site exists because choosing internet shouldn't require becoming an expert. You should be able to make an informed decision based on real experiences, not marketing promises.

How I Test

For each provider, I document:

  • Actual speed tests using multiple tools (Ookla Speedtest, Spain's official broadband measurement tool)
  • Speed consistency across different times of day
  • Connection stability and uptime
  • Customer service response times and effectiveness
  • Pricing transparency and hidden costs
  • Installation experience and equipment quality

I test from real apartments in Barcelona, using the service for actual work and daily activities—not just running speed tests in ideal conditions.

Transparency

I believe in full transparency. If a provider offers me compensation or free service in exchange for a review, I'll decline. If I discover I've made an error in a review, I'll update it immediately with a clear note about the correction.

My goal is to provide information that helps you make the right choice for your situation, not to promote any particular provider.
